The idea is to leave something on the doorstep to surprise others during this stressful time and one group of women are doing just that.
Leah Cassisy: “I didn't know half these people and now I am like oh wow! I can reach out and meet new people every day and make people happy.”
Erin Milazo: “I really loved the story of “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.” Which to me that's what this is... It's just a bottle of wine that is going around instead.”
There are now more than 700 women in this group who are participating in the fun.
They sneak up to doorsteps and leave a surprise for other neighbors in the group.
Julie Briggs-Buick: “It grows daily we probably get anywhere from 15 to 30 requests a day to join our group.”
Amy Forrester: “What people are putting into what they bring is absolutely amazing. I've gotten angels and candles and bath stuff and I mean so many different things people I mean.”
They spend hours putting together baskets and it is just so much more.
Ashley Hoock Pereira: “The point that you can make other people smile is just beautiful. It truly is. I have dropped off wine, I've dropped off baskets for the kids, chalk, coloring stuff.”
Nichole Briggs: “The kids have been enjoying it doing it with their parents and getting out of the house a little bit. Showing how nice it is to give to others to lift spirits.”
One member of the group has even created a special group for just children called the chocolate milk express.
Erin Milazo: “With everybody social distancing, and I have little kids too, and I see that they’re bored or they are upset because they can’t hang out with their friends or anything like that, so I figured I got so much joy from receiving a bottle of wine, why not do the same thing for the children as well they suffer just as much as we do with the social distancing.”
If you are interested in joining the group all you have to do is go on to Facebook and search for The Sisterhood of the Traveling Wine or Chocolate Milk Express groups in your area.
